What wall art is appropriate for a single guy?

I live alone and have made the transition from college to adult life. The old wall posters don%26#039;t cut it any more...but most of the wall art out there is very feminine. Flowers, flowers and more flowers. Cutesy cottages by a pond. Butterflies and dragonflies. Any suggestions on wall art or other wall decor for a guy%26#039;s house?

What wall art is appropriate for a single guy?
Hey Ryan;

Art is so subjective it%26#039;s hard to give you advice, but what I will suggest if your on a tight budget is going to secondhand stores/salvation army/garage sales, etc... This way if you find something you like it won%26#039;t have cost a fortune.

Another option is wall rugs (some people even tack leather or material to their walls). There are usually more masculine types of designs in this media.

Whichever way you decide to go, good for you for having the taste to ask for help!
Reply:Go to art.com and see what you like to look at! Seriously! Whatever makes you feel good is what you should hang.

Some of todays posters, when mounted on foam core and under glass look real classy, and aren%26#039;t expensive.

Try unframed canvasses that you like also.
Reply:Being a single adult male as well, perhaps I might offer some tangible advice. Yes, art is very subjective... glad we all agree on that. If you have any large framable or framed pictures, I find that they make for good decor and conversation pieces. I happened to have a lot of New York City skyline photographs that I had framed over the years. Tapestries work well to fill walls...a flag of your nationality. It also depends on your house or apartment, furniture.... I would also add in closing that if any of th posters are desirable, it might be cool to have one professionally framed. Ultimately, its your call, hope I helped at least a little.
Reply:check out www.boundlessgallery.com. I bought there. They have a handy art finder that lets you search by price, size, etc. Once you find a piece you like you can upload a picture of your room (assuming you have a digital camera) and see what it looks like - it%26#039;s pretty cool.

Hope that helps!
Reply:check out the classic Ansel Adams black and white photography prints. google images Ansel Adams. Ive got several of the prints on my bedroom walls framed in simple black. theres also a lot of great abstract art with strong masculine colors and bold geometric patterns. Ive got a large 3%26#039;x4%26#039; abstract over my fireplace with a lot of black brown and green in it, its done on plain canvas and is frameless.
Reply:Ask yourself %26quot; What Do I like?%26quot; Do you happen to collect anything such as Model Cars or Airplanes? Take it from there and go with the flow! Also I personally think that Eagles and Wolves are masculine type animals- I don%26#039;t know why I just do- and you can usually find some nice looking cheaper type of pictures at a dollar store with these animals in them. Maybe if there is a girl you r interested in ask her to go shopping with you to help you pick things out- that might be fun for both of you!!
Reply:I would suggest looking on Ebay for self representing artists, they are for the most part very reasonable and have some great abstracts and more masculine artwork. Also try http://www.zgallerie.com check out the framed art they offer. There is alot out there for guys but I agree it%26#039;s hard to find. Hope this helps!
Reply:check out www.cb2.com. It%26#039;s a pretty trendy website and some of their simplistic designs would work great in a masculine environment. Just click on the button that says decorate.

:) Good luck.
Reply:I%26#039;m a guy as well who just got my first place. Definitely get rid of some of the posters, they are not the best..they always remind me of a teenagers bedroom.

I have a few framed and matted pictures. One of them is black and white and is a picture of a mountain and a pond/ the mountain is reflected off the pond. I also have this large picture in my living room that has all different colors thrown together, just like splatted on.. and has a black frame.

All I can say is keep it simple. If you paint your walls a decent color ( i like grays and blues) you really don%26#039;t need much on them, just a few pictures should be fine.

Really when it comes down to it, you ask %26quot;What kind of art is appropriate?%26quot;... well its really any kind of art that you like. Who cares whats considered too feminine, etc. Put up what appeals to you, f*** the norm. Take it easy.
