Building brick flower bed?

My friend and I run a little yard biz and a client wants a brick wall, approx 2 to 3 bricks high around an existing flower bed. So far I have been unable to find any tutorials on the subject, hoping someone out there can lend some wisdom? I have found a video on building a retaining wall, but this situation really doesn%26#039;t fit that. HELP!!!!!

Building brick flower bed?
this is not difficult.. i have used brick on so many things.. make your pattern and dig a small ditch.. about 2 inches deep, and the same width as the brick.. add 1inch of sand in the ditch, water in down to pack the sand, get your mortar.. make sure you do not add too much water when mixing.. this is the trickiest part of your job..the thickness of oatmeal.. from the sand, use mortar, the add the first layer of brick.. on the second layer, make sure the brick is offset from the first layer, clean the extra mortar as you go, it dries pretty quick. If you have to use half of a brick, cut it with a saw that has a nice sharp blade for brick.. good luck
Reply:There are some excellent books at Home Depot on that subject.
Reply:You should dig down at least a foot or so and put in a cement footing for a base. But even with that said, I think you should pass on this one because bricks when not done right will come apart in a short time especially depending on the winter weather. With having a business, you need to stay alive by word of mouth! And the money you may make now, could be triple what you will lose later on when all does not stay put!

Just like a railroad tie wall needs to be %26quot;stepped back%26quot;, so does bricks.

I would pass on this one. Not exactly something you can learn the first time out for lasting years of beauty. Do one in your own yard first to practice and get the %26quot;kinks%26quot; out, then check on it for a few seasons.
