What kind of wall art would look good in our formal living/dining room?

You don%26#039;t need to be an interior designer or anything, I just want anyone and everyone%26#039;s ideas:

My husband and I just moved into our new home and I am trying to decide what kind of of poster/print(s) I would like to hang in the formal living and dining room.

The house is two years old, with light, 12x12 natural colored Travartine tile throughout the first floor, including the formal living areas. The walls in the FLR/DR are white and the main wall in the room is a buttery yellow I kept the informal living areas kind of open and airy, and tried to keep sort of a Spanish Colonial/palm tree feel to it and I love the look. What should I do in the formal living area?

I am open to suggestions, but I am tired of the vintage advertising art thing and I am not really into the x-ray flowers that seem to be the next big thing. I don%26#039;t want anything too cloying/victorian style.

Other than that, please suggest some things to me. All ideas welcome!

Since your home is new and has tiled floors I would say you could go fairly modern, pick what catches your eye, and keep the frames all the same colour to keep it formal. I don%26#039;t know what any of your accent colours are but I would maybe pull something out of those for the biggest picture and work from there with the smaller ones. Good hunting
Reply:imagekind.com has the most incredible prints and they are reasonably priced. you can even have the work framed cause they have a huge number of frame and mat options. just take a peek an i am sure you will find something you like.
Reply:Check out the link below. I don%26#039;t know if it is the style you are looking for, but the are some beautiful selections of wall art.
Reply:Black and white photography always looks really nice, it%26#039;s so classic too.
Reply:Maybe Latin-American artwork:

I like many of the paintings by Diego Rivera, like %26quot;Girl with Lilies%26quot; and %26quot;Painted Gourds.%26quot;

You might also like scenes of summer, since you said you like thing open, airy and beachy:

I think %26quot;Palm Bay%26quot; would go well with decor you describe, or %26quot;Sunlit Steps.%26quot;
Reply:There are some really huge continual (mural ) wallpapers on the market...I think they are half or even full height ( 8%26#039; ) !!!

The Half height can be put above a wainscot of a complimentary color...

This could make a dramatic center of attention in the home...
