Updating Wall tiles?

I have outdated wall tiles in my stand alone shower and my tub surround. The tiles are a slate/marble grey that will %26quot;read%26quot; blue if I paint my walls a creamy colour. My problem is that there are some tiles with outdated pink flowers on them (i.e, placed sporadically amongst the other tiles). My idea is to update only the tiles with flowers on them with something more current but I am not sure what. I have heard of %26quot;wallies%26quot; but when I went to their website, it said you can%26#039;t put them in the shower because the direct water will cause them to come off.

Any other ideas?

Updating Wall tiles?
no to the wallies- they are wallpaper sooooooo they would come off- but there is a special paint for ceramic tile- so you could PAINT out the flowers- (this is a simple fix) YOU must get some real help- GO TO A PAINT STORE- and ask for help----Have decorating fun-
Reply:These sound like Subway tiles. You are lucky to have them, too bad they have pink flowers.

Hope Depot and Lowes both carry rectangle subway tiles. If you can find ones that fit, you can cut a small sheet of 1inch square tiles to fit the holes. Or create a small mosaic in each spot. Sounds like fun.

Remove the grout around the offending tiles and try to crack the center of each offending tile. Pry out the broken pieces and scrape all of the old mastic or thinset out of the area. It if looks solid, just follow the instructions on a new bag of thinset to set you new tiles.

Reply:Look in your yellow pages for tile stores or a Home Depot. Get the measurements of the tiles you want to replace along with the quantity and if possible a picture of your shower and an idea of what you are looking for. Go to several of the stores and talk with a professional. These people know tiles and what is required for removal and installation and steer you in the right direction as well as give you a cost quote of replacing the tiles or other options such as maybe painting the tiles or applying a type of glaze. Don%26#039;t be afraid to ask questions or have them explain words or terms you don%26#039;t understand. Their job is to help you because they want your business, so if you aren%26#039;t satisfied with the way they answer your questions or treat you then find someone else so that when you go to change the tiles you are confident in doing the job.
Reply:you can cut the tiles out and put new tiles in and re grout
Reply:We had the same problem with beige tiles with the occasional one with a brown flower on

We used a tile primer and paint in the bathroom and the shower cubicle and then picked out the flower tiles (which were slightly embossed) with a chrome/silver paint.

We did this 9 years ago and are now going to replace the bathroom - apart from a few little chips where the metal pedal bin has bashed the wall, it still looks great!
Reply:Sounds like a good design question - i did find some decent instructions for how to remove the old tiles here: http://www.discountflooring.com/ceramic/...
